

New Delhi, Aug 24 (IANS) South Delhi Superstarz produced a disciplined all-round performance to defeat Central Delhi Queens by 11 runs in the women’s leg of the Delhi Premier League 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday.
Batting first, South Delhi Superstarz posted 68/6 in eight overs(rain curtailed the match), with captain Shweta Sehrawat leading the way with a composed 26 off 21 balls. She struck three boundaries and anchored the innings through the middle overs.
Priya Punia provided an early burst, smashing two boundaries in her 9 off four deliveries before being dismissed by Sumiti Soni.
Tanisha Singh then added valuable momentum with 19 off 13 balls, including three fours, before Medhavi Bidhuri accounted for her.
South Delhi lost wickets in quick succession towards the end, but Ananya Pahuja remained unbeaten on five, while Disha Nagar contributed four off three balls at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, which will host international fixtures between India and Afghanistan.
Sumiti Soni and Medhavi Bidhuri claimed two wickets apiece for Central Delhi Queens.
Chasing 69, Central Delhi Queens got off to a disastrous start when Saachi was stumped for a duck off the very first ball.
Deeksha Sharma then steadied the innings with a brisk 22 off 16 balls, hitting four boundaries. She was run out in the sixth over with the score on 41, leaving Central Delhi with a difficult task.
Arushi Goel contributed 14 off 12, while Monika scored nine off six, but both fell as the chase lost momentum. Riya Kondal remained unbeaten on one, with captain Soni Yadav finishing on two not out as Central Delhi Queens ended at 57/5 in eight overs.
For South Delhi, Roopali Vishwa Mohan, Disha Nagar and Ekta Bhadana took one wicket each. Their disciplined bowling and sharp fielding ensured Central Delhi never gained enough momentum.
South Delhi Superstarz eventually secured an 11-run victory.
