Jaipur, Oct 29 (IANS) Rajasthan has demonstrated strong performance in implementing the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood (Rural) Mission, with significant achievements in women’s participation, employment generation, timely payment processing, and rural asset creation.
During the financial year 2026–27, women accounted for 72.69% of total person-days of employment generated under the mission in Rajasthan, significantly exceeding the national average of 62.25% by 10.44 percentage points. So far, 18.86 lakh families and 21.66 lakh individuals have received employment under the mission.
The average employment provided per family stands at 24.29 days, compared with the national average of 20.02 days, giving Rajasthan an advantage of 4.27 days per family.
The state has created 42,557 assets under the scheme, contributing to rural infrastructure development and livelihood enhancement. Agriculture and allied activities account for 35.88% of total expenditure, while 73.17% of expenditure in designated Mission Water Conservation blocks is directed towards related development initiatives.
These efforts are aimed at strengthening water conservation, supporting agricultural livelihoods, and improving essential rural infrastructure. The mission has recorded substantial participation from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, whose combined share stands at approximately 44%.
Scheduled Castes account for 20.43% of participation, while Scheduled Tribes account for 23.34%. The strong participation of these communities reflects the state’s commitment to inclusive development and the vision of Antyodaya, ensuring that the benefits of development reach the last person in society.
Rajasthan has also performed strongly in payment processing. Payments for 97.04% of beneficiaries were generated within 15 days, compared with the national average of 82.46%, placing the state 14.58 percentage points ahead.
In addition, 100% of the state’s expenditure under the scheme has been processed through the Electronic Fund Management System (eFMS), compared with 99.97% nationally, reflecting a strong emphasis on transparency and financial accountability.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is rooted in the belief that India can become a developed nation only when its villages prosper. The prosperity of farmers, dignity of labourers, and self-reliance of rural communities are essential to achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat.
He emphasised that the mission is not limited to providing employment but also promotes water conservation, infrastructure development, and sustainable rural progress.
The enhanced statutory guarantee of annual employment from 100 days to 125 days further strengthens livelihood security for rural households.
