Bengaluru, September 22: The Karnataka High Court has ordered the transfer of the investigation into the alleged KPSC veterinary officers’ recruitment scam from the CID to a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
A bench headed by Justice Nagaprasanna directed the formation of a five-member SIT headed by DGP Alok Kumar. The court has asked the team to complete the investigation within 100 days and submit a progress report every month.
The case relates to alleged irregularities in the recruitment of veterinary officers through the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC). The earlier CID investigation had examined alleged violations at multiple stages of the recruitment process.
The probe focused on three key areas — question paper leakage, alleged manipulation of OMR answer sheets and irregularities in the interview process.
The CID had conducted its investigation in phases and gathered information relating to the alleged irregularities. With the High Court now transferring the case to the SIT, the new team is expected to examine the material collected by the CID and take the investigation forward.
The court’s direction to complete the probe within 100 days, along with monthly progress reports, puts a specific timeline on the investigation.
The development comes amid scrutiny of the KPSC recruitment process and allegations of manipulation that could have affected the selection of candidates for veterinary officer posts. The SIT will now investigate the allegations and determine the role, if any, of those involved based on the evidence.
