Mumbai, Aug 7 (IANS) Actress Jordana Brewster, who plays Mia Toretto, the sister of Dominic Toretto across “The Fast and the Furious” franchise, has looked back at the premiere of the first installment 25 years ago.
As the original film will return to theatres across the US and several other countries worldwide soon, Brewster recalled doing her own make-up and carrying her mother’s Fendi bag.
She wrote: “Twenty five years ago I went to the Westwood premiere of Fast and Furious — originally titled Redline— I wore my mom’s Fendi baguette bag and did my own makeup (blue eyeshadow and tanning beds were in).:
Brewster, who was also seen as the love interest of Brian O’Conner, played by the late Paul Walker, added that she is excited to walk the same red carpet with her children and introduce them to the film that started it all.
“Soon I’ll get to walk the same carpet with my kids and show them the film that started it all. The love for this film around the globe but ESPECIALLY in Brazil, my home, is the heart of this franchise,” Brewstar added.
It was earlier in August, when the film’s lead star Vin Diesel shared about the original film’s global re-release ahead of ‘Fast Forever’.
“Fast & Furious” is an action media franchise centered on a series of films revolving around street racing, heists, and spies. The first film, based on the 1998 Vibe magazine article “Racer X” by Ken Li and written by Gary Scott Thompson, Erik Bergquist, and David Ayer, was released in 2001.
The first four films focused on illegal street racing, culminating in Fast & Furious. The series moved towards heists and espionage with Fast Five, which was followed by five further films in that genre. An eleventh and final film, Fast Forever, is set to be released in 2028.
