Valsad/Bharuch, June 3 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) projects worth more than Rs 1,063 crore in Bharuch and Valsad districts on June 5, with the investments aimed at strengthening industrial infrastructure, environmental management systems, and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities across South Gujarat.
The projects form part of a larger package of development works worth more than Rs 18,777 crore that will be inaugurated or have foundation stones laid during the Prime Minister’s visit to Gujarat.
Of the GIDC projects, works worth over Rs 894 crore are located in Bharuch district, while projects valued at Rs 169.3 crore are in Valsad district.
A major component of the package is a Rs 474.61 crore effluent disposal project at the Dahej Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR).
The project comprises a 90 million litres per day (MLD) offshore and onshore effluent disposal pipeline connecting the Saykha Pumping Station with the Dahej landfall point.
It includes civil structures, electro-mechanical systems, and PLC-SCADA infrastructure, along with five years of operation and maintenance.
The facility is intended to strengthen the treatment and disposal of industrial effluents generated in the Dahej and Saykha industrial areas.
The Dahej PCPIR has been developed to support chemical, textile, pharmaceutical, dyes and intermediates, and engineering industries. More than 1,000 industrial units are currently operational in the region.
Modi will also inaugurate infrastructure facilities worth Rs 274.96 crore at the Bulk Drug Park in Jambusar of Bharuch district.
The project includes road networks, stormwater drainage systems, and a central drain, designed to meet the requirements of pharmaceutical manufacturers and support further development of the industrial cluster.
Among the other Bharuch projects is a 30 MLD drainage pumping station for the Dahej-2 Industrial Estate, including a rising main linking the Suva Pumping Station to the final pumping station at Z-93.
The facility is expected to improve industrial drainage management and strengthen the integrated effluent conveyance network in the estate.
Additional works to be inaugurated include infrastructure upgrades at the Panoli Extension Industrial Estate, where roads, cross-drainage structures, water supply networks, compound walls, paver blocks, plantation, and street lighting facilities have been developed.
An intermediate booster pumping station on the Ankleshwar effluent transmission pipeline will also be inaugurated to facilitate the efficient conveyance of industrial effluents while supporting environmental compliance.
In addition, Natural Drain-2 in the Dahej-1 Industrial Estate has been upgraded to increase stormwater carrying capacity and reduce the risk of waterlogging.
In the Valsad district, the Prime Minister will inaugurate two projects in the Sarigam Industrial Estate worth more than Rs 169 crore.
The first involves expanding the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) from 15 MLD to 25 MLD.
The expansion includes design, engineering, construction, commissioning, testing, and long-term operation and maintenance, aimed at enhancing effluent treatment capacity and meeting environmental standards.
The second project consists of an HDPE onshore and offshore outfall pipeline system, along with a sump and pumping station.
The network connects the pumping station to a landfall chamber and extends to a deep-sea discharge point, providing improved infrastructure for the disposal of industrial effluent within the estate.
The projects are expected to enhance industrial operations in South Gujarat, improve environmental management, and support future growth in key sectors, including chemicals, petrochemicals, and pharmaceuticals.
