

New Delhi, June 28 (IANS) Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra joined East Delhi workers of the party’s OBC Morcha in felicitating Alka Gurjar on being elected to the Rajya Sabha, a party leader said on Sunday.
Malhotra and MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri addressed a large gathering of OBC Morcha workers and Shahdara district BJP office-bearers, expressing gratitude towards Alka Gurjar, Delhi BJP Co-Incharge, for her successful organisational guidance to the city BJP over the last four years.
The function was organised under the chairmanship of OBC Morcha Delhi President Sunil Yadav.
Malhotra said in his address that Alka Gurjar has understood Delhi BJP workers very well during the last nearly four years and has strengthened the organisation like a guardian.
He said that with the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the hard work of Alka Gurjar, the OBC community has also become a part of the BJP’s traditional support base in Delhi.
Bidhuri said that for the first time in history after Independence, there are four MPs from the Gurjar community. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken several steps for the OBC community, which have provided leadership to society, and from the Assembly to the Lok Sabha, trust has been placed in the OBC community.
He said that when the BJP entered the Delhi Assembly last time with eight MLAs, he was the only representative from the backward class, yet the party gave him the responsibility of Leader of the Opposition.
Today, the people of Delhi feel proud because Delhi has a leader like Harsh Malhotra who has both the intention and the policy to work, Bidhuri said.
On behalf of OBC workers from East and North-East Delhi, Alka Gurjar was given a grand felicitation along with former MLA Naseeb Singh, 360 Village Panchayat President Surendra Solanki, Ram Khiladi Yadav, U.K. Chaudhary, Manish Chaudhary, Lokesh Numberdar, Amit Yadav, Tapasi Pradhan, Akash Jailedar, Shyam Kumar, Himanshu Yadav, Varun Saini, Vikas Yadav, Manoj Chaudhary, Gaurav Doda, Sompal Panchal, Mohit Nagar, Pushpendra Rathore, Mayur Vihar District President Vijender Dhama, Shahdara District BJP President Deepak Gaba and Mahila Morcha President Richa Pandey.
Alka Gurjar thanked the OBC community as well as the Delhi organisation and said the BJP is the only party where every worker is respected because he or she contributes to PM Modi’s vision of a developed India.
She said the Delhi unit has a dual responsibility because, along with a developed India, the responsibility of a developed Delhi is also with us.
Alka Gurjar said that after the BJP government was formed in Delhi after 27 years, the responsibilities have increased twofold. With the same dedication with which the government was formed, workers now need to ensure that government schemes reach every person.
She said the Gurjar community has continuously struggled for its rights after Independence, but PM Modi has not only ensured their rights but also worked to connect the community with the mainstream.
