

Bhopal, Aug 5 (IANS) The Congress on Wednesday dissolved all departments and cells of its Madhya Pradesh unit, along with their state, district and block-level units, as part of a major organisational restructuring exercise aimed at strengthening the party ahead of future elections.
The decision was announced by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) In-Charge for Madhya Pradesh Harish Chaudhary through a notification.
“The All India Congress Committee has decided to dissolve all departments and cells of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee, along with their respective state, district and block-level units, with immediate effect,” Chaudhary said in the notification.
The move came during the party’s ongoing two-day review meeting in New Delhi under the ‘Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan’ (Organisation Building Campaign), where the Congress leadership is reviewing its organisational structure in Madhya Pradesh and discussing measures to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
The review meeting was chaired by Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal at the Indira Bhavan. It was attended by AICC In-Charge Harish Chaudhary, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Jitu Patwari, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar and AICC Secretaries handling the state.
On Wednesday, the second day of the meeting, all district Congress Presidents from Madhya Pradesh participated in the discussions led by Patwari.
The leaders reviewed the existing organisational structure and discussed the roadmap for rebuilding the party from the booth level upwards.
The dissolution of all departments and cells is being seen as the first major step in the Congress’ organisational revamp in the state.
Party sources said new departments and cells are expected to be constituted after the restructuring process is completed.
Sources also said the Madhya Pradesh Congress state executive is likely to be reorganised as part of the exercise.
The Pradesh Congress Committee itself may also undergo restructuring in the coming days.
