Washington: The United States has allocated $250 million in military assistance to Ukraine, as announced by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday. This newly provided package encompasses a range of resources, including AIM-9M missiles for air defense, munitions for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, 155mm and 105mm artillery ammunition, and a substantial quantity of small arms ammunition, according to the news agency.
This assistance falls under a prior directive issued by President Joe Biden, utilizing the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA). The weaponry and equipment supplied through this avenue are directly sourced from the inventories of the US Department of Defense (DoD) for Ukraine’s benefit.
This marks the 45th instance of military aid directed towards Ukraine through the PDA mechanism by the Biden administration since August 2021, as highlighted in a DoD record detailing the latest batch of armaments destined for Ukraine.
Cumulatively, the US has pledged over $43.7 billion in military aid to Ukraine since the inception of the Biden administration. Notably, this figure includes more than $43 billion extended since the commencement of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in February 2022, as outlined by the Department of Defense (DoD).
