Turkish military units have been consistently engaged in a series of operations in northern Iraq, encompassing ground maneuvers, aerial assaults, and artillery barrages, all aimed at combatting the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party). The Qandil mountains serve as the principal stronghold for this organization, according to reports from Xinhua news agency.
The PKK, recognized as a terrorist entity by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union, has been at odds with the Turkish government for over three decades, marking a prolonged and contentious conflict.
