New York: A summit centered on traditional medicine is set to welcome the participation of G20 health ministers. According to Farhan Haq, the spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the primary objective of this meeting, scheduled for next Thursday and Friday, is to elevate the scientific foundation of traditional medicine. This initiative aims to contribute to the realization of UN health objectives.
During the summit, discussions will revolve around strategies to amplify scientific breakthroughs and effectively harness evidence-based knowledge in the utilization of traditional medicine for the enhancement of global health and overall well-being. Farhan Haq emphasized that the World Health Organization (WHO) underscores the potential of traditional medicine to play a pivotal role in achieving the ambitious target of universal health coverage. This goal had been facing challenges even prior to the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
