Ferozepur: Law enforcement authorities successfully apprehended two Pakistani smugglers and confiscated a significant haul of 29 kilograms of heroin in a joint operation carried out by the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police (CI Ferozepur). The operation took place on the banks of the Sutlej River in Ferozepur during the night between Sunday and Monday.
A senior official from the BSF reported that the operation was executed based on specific intelligence. Around 2:45 a.m., the combined forces detected the movement of individuals involved in smuggling activities, crossing from Pakistan to the Indian side of the border.
The troops issued a challenge to the suspects, urging them to stop. In response, possibly perceiving a looming threat, the suspects attempted to evade capture, prompting the security personnel to open fire. During the exchange, one of the smugglers sustained a bullet injury to the hand. Subsequently, the troops managed to apprehend both Pakistani smugglers and seized 26 packets of narcotics, believed to be heroin, totaling 29.26 kilograms.
The injured smuggler received immediate first aid and was subsequently transported to a nearby civil hospital for further medical attention. The successful operation demonstrates the collaborative efforts of the BSF and Punjab Police in combating illicit cross-border activities and maintaining security in the region.
