Mexico: A devastating accident in Mexico has resulted in the loss of 17 lives after a bus carrying passengers from the Elite passenger line, including six Indian citizens, veered off the road and fell into a ravine. The ill-fated journey began in Mexico City and was bound for Tijuana, the border town adjacent to southern California.
The names of the survivors were revealed in an official list published by the Mexican newspaper El Financiero. Among the Indian nationals who survived were Rajan Singh (21), Mandip Kumar (22), Adama Kane (46), and Hanidou Kane, as reported by the British daily.
The driver of the bus, identified as Francisco, survived the tragic crash and was taken into custody for further investigation. He admitted to investigators that he had fallen asleep behind the wheel, leading to the loss of control and the bus crashing through the guardrail.
The accident site was challenging for rescue teams, located deep within a ravine, making the rescue mission an extremely difficult task, according to Jorge Rodríguez, the security and civil protection secretary for the state of Nayarit.
This heart-wrenching incident is not an isolated one in Mexico. Recently, another bus crash in Oaxaca resulted in 29 fatalities, while in February, a bus carrying migrants from South and Central America met with a tragic accident in central Mexico, claiming the lives of 17 individuals.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families as they grapple with this unimaginable loss. May they find strength and solace in this trying time.
