Chitradurga: A tragic incident occurred in Karnataka, where two people lost their lives and 36 others fell ill after consuming contaminated water. Among the sick, five individuals are in serious condition.
The deceased have been identified as Manjula (23) and Raghu (27), both residents of Kavadigarahatti, situated in the outskirts of Chitradurga. While Manjula passed away at the hospital, Raghu, who had traveled to Bengaluru after drinking the contaminated water, developed severe symptoms and later succumbed to the illness.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, prompting authorities to issue a warning to local residents, advising them not to consume water supplied by the city municipality.
Several of the affected individuals are currently receiving treatment at the district hospital for severe vomiting and diarrhea. The critically ill patients have been transferred to hospitals in the neighboring city of Davanagere.
Health department officials are on site at Kavadigarahatti to handle any emergency situations.
To determine the exact cause of the contamination, water and excreta samples from the affected individuals have been sent to a laboratory for testing. Authorities are actively investigating the incident to prevent further harm and protect public health.
