Hyderabad, July 30 (IANS) In view of the heavy rains forecast for the next two days, Hyderabad police have appealed to people not to step out of their homes during rains unless absolutely necessary, while Cyberabad Police have advised IT companies to consider work from home wherever possible.
Companies and organisations within the limits of Cyberabad Police Commissionerate have also been requested to follow early logout in a staggered manner on Thursday from 2 p.m. so as to minimise travel-related risks, reduce pressure on road infrastructure, and support smooth functioning of essential services during the adverse weather conditions.
Cyberabad police issued the traffic advisory considering the safety, productivity, likelihood of severe traffic congestion, and for the uninterrupted emergency services.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on Thursday advised people to remain alert in view of the heavy rains.
With the Meteorological Department’s forecast of heavy rains over the next two days, he requested people to avoid stepping out of their homes while it is raining unless absolutely necessary.
He suggested that people should stay updated with information and warnings issued by the Meteorological Department and plan their daily commutes in advance based on rain forecasts.
The Commissioner personally inspected traffic flow and road conditions at the Panjagutta and Khairatabad junctions and issued instructions to the officers on duty.
He stated that the police is working in close coordination with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other government agencies to ensure the public faces no inconvenience due to the rains in the city, adding that personnel would be constantly available on the ground to address any traffic issues that might arise.
He advised people to stay away from open manholes and fallen electric wires or poles during the rains.
The Commissioner urged motorists to slow down and drive cautiously in low-lying areas prone to waterlogging and near flyovers.
He advised the public to dial 100 in case of emergencies or if they require traffic-related assistance. The public is urged to regularly follow the advisories issued by the City Traffic Police via social media and other channels to ensure they reach their destinations safely.
